Can we start over?

Isn’t it funny how things rarely seem to go according to plan?
I love making goals. I had all kinds prepped and ready to go for the new year. January was going to be my perfect month — I was going to work out 3x a week, log my calories every day, knock out a bunch of sewing projects…
…and then on New Year’s Eve, I got the worst case of bronchitis I’ve ever had in my life and was rendered completely useless. Instead of clearing to-do lists and nailing goals at the gym, I spent the first week of 2018 on the couch struggling to breathe and hacking up my lungs. I spent five hours on New Year’s Day in a packed, understaffed urgent care clinic. Not exactly the picture-perfect start to the year I had planned.
But here we are a week later, and I can breathe a little easier now (literally). I’m sitting down to the sewing machine for the first time this year and getting to work on my neglected Christmas quilt. My January workout log might not be perfect and my quilt might not be finished until summer…but I’m picking up where I left off and moving forward.
